Orchestrate the grid, the distributed energy resource, and the loads
Australia is embracing the future of its electricity grid by with a nationwide growing adoption of distributed energy resources (DER), spanning from rooftop solar panels and home batteries to utility-grade battery energy storage systems. The grid in the near future is undoubtfully a high DER grid, featuring decentralized energy resource, disappearing boundaries between generators, consumers and prosumers.
With all the social and environmental benefits of renewable energy adoption, distribution network service providers (DNSP) are also faced with challenges of this commencing high DER grid, such as power quality control, frequency and voltage stability control, supply-demand power flow and balance control. Present and future DNSPs need not only manage the demand, but also the export of the prosumers within their network. We have seen DNSPs in both South Australia and Queensland implement dynamic/flexible solar energy export schemes, with Victoria joins them after March 1st, 2024.
We believe that a decentralized grid will be accompanied by a distributed control topology. While the overarching control from organizations like AEMO to energy end-users will remain crucial, we are witnessing a surge in micro-grids, local distributed energy resources (DERs), and demand response initiatives. This trend calls for enhanced energy self-sufficiency, stability, and security. The future grid, characterized by a high presence of DERs, will be comprised of distributed prosumers. Whether it's a residential home or a retirement village, each prosumer will have access to technologies enabling local energy management, participation in energy markets, and responsiveness to both distribution network service providers (DNSPs) and market operators.

Ecosystem of Integration and Innovation for the High DER Future
The decentralized high DER grid requires more completed interaction and system management technology stacks. From AEMO, DNSP, to inverter manufactures, system integrators, and even end users, all participants need to work collaboratively.
Here at Infinode, we place ourselves at a role of providing ODM products/service of software, hardware, and system solutions for the decentralized high DER grid. We work with partners in the ecosystem to put forward agile and dedicated product and tech solutions. Categories of ODM products/solutions we provide are:
Metering, power/energy measurement devices
Protection relays
Logic controllers, DER controllers with DER control firmware
Energy management software
